Join the KNVM Microphotography contest to celebrate the beauty of microbiology.

Microbiology is beautiful! The KNVM wants to celebrate this beauty with a microphotography contest and give microbiologists the opportunity to showcase their work in a creative way.

The contest is now open for submissions! Please submit your image here. Deadline for submission is 14 March 2027. Conditions can be found below.

Conditions

The photographs:

1. must relate to microbiology (in the broadest sense, ranging from a microscopic picture, agarplate-art to a row of tubes, be creative!)
2. must be your own artwork, i.e. you must own the copyright.
3. in .eps or .tiff format, minimal size 1200 pixels (width) and maximum 15Mb.

The submitter is employed in the Netherlands, Belgium, or Luxemburg.

Three to five photographs will be selected for the shortlist by the KNVM board. These photos are exhibited on the Scientific Spring meeting of the KNVM/NVMM and the winner is selected based on the votes of the participants of the Scientific Spring meeting. The final winner will receive a gift card. The shortlisted photographs are also shown on the KNVM website.

Every participant can upload a maximum of two photographs, please use a separate form for each submission.
