Registration is now open for the Data Carpentry Genomics workshop at Amsterdam Science Park, organized by the Medical Microbiology, UMC Utrecht and the Netherlands e-science center on 22-23 March 2017.
Data Carpentry workshops are for any researcher who has genomic sequencing data they want to analyze, and no prior computational experience is required. This hands-on workshop teaches basic concepts, skills and tools for working more effectively with data. The focus of this workshop is on working with genomics data and data management and analysis for genomics research. Even those with some experience will benefit, as the goal is to teach not only how to do analyses, but how to manage the process to make it as automated and reproducible as possible.
We will cover data processing and organization, data cleaning and visualization in R, an introduction to Linux, using Linux to organize and process genomics data and using Linux to automate. Participants should bring their laptops and plan to participate actively. By the end of the workshop learners should be able to more effectively manage and analyze data and be able to apply the tools and approaches directly to their ongoing research.
The course fee of 100 Euro covers participation, coffee/tea and lunch during lunch breaks.
The number of participants is limited to 25 and will be selected on a first-come first-served basis.
